Our Lord has commanded us to go and make disciples of all nations, teaching, and baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit! As His followers it is important to reach out to those around us. Most importantly, we want to connect people to Jesus to keep their faith growing and their spiritual life healthy. We also want to help people to stay physically, emotionally, and mentally healthy. Here a few ministries that you may want to be involved in as we care for people and connect them to Jesus:
International Student Ministry (ISM) happens on most Thursdays at Wayne State University. Some of our members reach out and connect with the international students at WSU to share the good news of Jesus!
Detroit Rescue Mission Ministry (DRMM) is any important outreach to those in Detroit who are struggling with various issues or dealing with challenging circumstances. Some of our members serve the meals on the second Saturdays of each month. It is a great chance to serve and witness to those who are part of the DRMM.
Family of God (FOG) is an important ministry happening in Detroit where the people in the Southwest Detroit neighborhood receive assistance with their food and clothing needs. On each day of the week, except Saturday, various churches have partnered with FOG to provide meals and assistance. Some of our members help no most Mondays to serve the meals and meet the needs of the neighborhood.
Food pantry is another outreach opportunity. Our members donate non-perishable food items on the last Sunday of each month. On every Tuesday morning, from 9:30-11:00 am, our food pantry in the church office is open to help our neighbors in need. It has been a great ministry as we have developed meaningful relationships with those neighbors as they are allowed to receive help on a monthly basis.
